Changing The Narrative
"If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude."- Maya Angelou
Jessica Pharm
Founder and CEO
Words of wisdom from the great poet and Black Civil Rights activist Maya Angelou propelled founder Jessica Pharm to act on years of feeling frustrated, mentally exhausted, and devalued in corporate spaces.
During the summer of 2019, it became clear something needed to be done to begin changing the narratives that impact the success of Black professionals.
Starting first as a blog on her personal website, Blackness and the Workplace gained traction and support, building a community of readers due to Jessica’s honest, transparent, and humorous approach to discussing underrepresented workplace issues such as career advice, racism, and microaggressions in the workplace.
After a year of continuous success, Blackness and the Workplace is expanding beyond just blogging by cultivating spaces and providing resources and support. From our blog to our podcast to our activism, Jessica will continue to do the work to share the mission, vision, and values of Blackness and the Workplace.
We will always move in truth NOT fear!
This is just the beginning!
